Uriah West

Uriah West started Djing in 2002 at the age of 22 although his love for house music began 2 years earlier. He was schooled about underground house music while going to school in Kansas City after meeting Joey C, David D, and Chris D of Deep Fix Records. After moving to Denver in 2002, Uriah started mixing records in his basement for hours at a time while recording most of his sessions. Within a year Uriah was dragging his turntables to any house party that would have him. In 2003, Uriah began his residency at Denver’s premier after-hours club 2AM, playing several nights a week until late 2006. While holding down his residency, he began playing at Denver’s signature clubs, The Church and Vinyl and also regularly played in Kansas City at one of the biggest underground house nights at the time, Frisky. Uriah has played along-side some of the best DJ’s/Producers in the industry to include Mark Farina, DJ Sneak, Diz, Derrick Carter and Heather to name a few. In 2006, Uriah and production partner Ejay began Bump Shop Music, showcasing top-quality tracks from respected producers like the Sound Diggers, Jonn Hawley, Matthew Brian and Evan Rhodes to name a few. Uriah has since started the 5280 Music label as a solo project. Between the two labels, DJ’s from across the globe including DJ Heather, Scud Bloom, Joey Youngman, and John Larner have been heard playing the Bump Shop Music and 5280 sounds. In late 2007, Uriah and Ejay began collaborating with Jack Roldan to bring house music back to the underground in Denver’s warehouse district, late-night style. With strong local line-ups and the occasional headliner, Uriah West and his posse are quickly become a staple in Denver’s underground house music community.

Ejay

Ejay started his musical life in the San Francisco Bay Area listening and dancing to Jazz, R&B and Hip Hop. With his roots already in deep soul music, its no surprise that his first experience with House music in the early 90s created a lasting impression. In fact, it was a life changing experience. In 1994 Ejay began mixing records for the San Francisco dance community. In 1996, Ejay relocated to Boulder, CO. where he fully devoted himself to the pursuit of House music. He gathered other passionate DJs, dancers, artist, friends and family and founded a collective called the Humble Souls. They have become known for their free outdoor full moon and Sunday afternoon gatherings, now a musical focal point for this area. Humble Souls give Colorado a chance to have events rich with music and vibe, but not powered by monetary gain. For these reasons, Humble Souls has become a source of enjoyment to locals who are ready to be immersed in the music. By the end of 1997 Ejay had already established himself as a successful DJ at the local clubs and parties. 1998 was the breakout year for Ejay as he was selected to be the premier resident house DJ at Soma, one of Colorados most respected nightclubs. For four years Ejay was the resident at Somas longest running house night MOVIN Fridays Friday nights where known for its eclectic blend of House grooves and powerful dance floor vibe. Ejay has held monthly residencies with King Britt, Mark Farina and has played with some of the top house DJs and producers around the world. Working along side with these DJs and producers has inspired Ejay to become involved with the production aspect of music. BumpShopMusic was launched by Ejay and Uriah West in spring of 2006 to create an outlet for their own music production and to promote up and coming like minded individuals.

Matthew Brian

Over the last several years Matthew Brian has been a driving force behind Kansas City's thriving House scene through DJing, event promotion and music production. Recently relocated to San Diego, Matt has been mixing House records for over 14 years, gaining an early appreciation of the rhythm & intricacies of House music as he consistently hammered dance floors throughout the SE quarter of the country. Through his involvement with Deepfix Records and their world-class weekly event Frisky, Matt heard more House records a week than most DJs hear in months. This heavy saturation of House music found its way into the studio and Matt quickly began cranking out some seriously impressive tracks drawing inspiration from the stacks of vinyl he'd stock at Deepfix and the Frisky sets of heavyweight DJs like Derrick Carter, Luke Solomon, Brett Johnson & way too many more to name. With the overwhelming success of the Cueball & Hustler EP on his own Edible Grooves label (which pairs him with another Kansas City legend Pat Nice with a remix from UK man-of-the-hour Lee Mortimer), Matt realized the potential he had to murder dance floors all over the globe through his production. To date Matt has released a grip of tracks on labels like Bump Shop, BBQ (Kansas City's tastiest House label), 5280 Music, Tight Recordings and of course, Edible Grooves and is showing no signs of slowing down. "Bleeps" is Matt's techiest offering to date, showcasing his handiwork with extremely tight drum programming, saw-tooth basslines, acid-inspired synths and enough bounce to make Roger Troutman proud.

Jonn Hawley

Music and dance have always been driving forces in Jonn Hawley's life. At age nine Hawley learned to play the saxophone, cello, and stand up bass. As a teenager music continued to shape the course of Hawley's life; in the late eighties he began break dancing. In 1991 Jonn started actively pursuing his love of music as a deejay. Hawley drew inspiration from the budding house and techno music scenes in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Detroit. His career as deejay was influenced by the sounds of brother Michael J and other deejays such as Derrick Carter, Ralphi Rosario, Mark Farina, Derrick May, Green Velvet and Fast Eddie. Hawley's musical talents were quickly recognized. Along with playing at numerous raves he soon found himself playing at some of the most influential clubs in Chicago and Milwaukee, such as: Karma, Red No. 5, Smart Bar, Mad Bar, Dragon Room, Tom Tom, Three ,and Thai Joes. He was also named resident deejay at Milwaukees Summerfest in 1998. In 1999 Hawley decided to put together all the pieces of musical knowledge he had acquired throughout his life and dive into the world of production. In 2002 Hawley began releasing tracks using the aliases Under Origin and 5900 West. He also established Foundation 75, his production studio. Then in 2003 Hawley launched his label, Soul Fuel Recordings at the Winter Music Conference in Miami, Florida. Currently, Hawley is busy traveling to deejay, releasing tracks on his own, as the Sound Navigators, and with partner in crime Marcus Aurelius as Organized Crime on various underground house labels and his own label Soul Fuel Recordings. Whether he is deejaying, producing, or running his label the one sure and unchanging characteristic of Hawley's style is this: He will never be ordinary...
